Wayne S. Musil, 63, of Home, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8 at the church. The Rev. Judy Scott officiated. The musicians were Deb Bruna and Maybelle Circle. The congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Amazing Grace”. The honorary pallbearers were Deb Harris, Matt Gee, Steve Yaussi, Ron Schmitz, Mike Slupianek and Daryl Seematter. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors provided by the American Legion S&MNR Post 163. Wayne was born February 22, 1947 at Marysville, the son of George B. and Nina Madge (McKee) Musil. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1965 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for four years. On March 1, 1975 he was united in marriage to Becky Yaussi at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. After his Honorable Discharge he worked for Home City Grain. Shortly thereafter he began working at Dixon Tire in Marysville as a mechanic and became the farm tire serviceman. He repaired tires until he became ill in 2010. Wayne was always willing to help the Home community. He worked for the Home Sewer & Water District and would volunteer to help with many projects. He enjoyed being a 4-H Leader and erecting the "No Place Like Home" sign that greets passer byers. He also enjoyed cutting wood, wood working, flowering and gardening, animals, plowing snow with his Ford tractor and giving his grandchildren rides on that tractor. Wayne was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Becky; three daughters, Samantha Musil, Ann Arbor, Mich., Nicole Hlaus (Tyler), Lyons, Kan., and Brenda Smith (Theodore), Hutchinson, Kan.; three brothers, Doug Musil (Sheila), Eskridge, Kan., Dale Musil (Joleen), Marysville, and David Musil (Mary), Salina, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Peyton and Isaac Smith. The Wayne Musil memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
