Marie A. Kruse, 92, of Marysville, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Bremen. Rev. Jack Kirk officiated. Bev Crome played the organ while choir sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". The congregation sang "Jesus, Lead Thou On" and "What God Ordains Is Always Good." Pallbearers were John Hoestje, Nick Johnson, Jeff Eggert, David Freitag, Dale Linkugel and Keith Stewart. Burial was in the church cemetery. Marie was born June 5, 1918 at Bremen to William F. and Rebecca (Meyn) Linkugel. She graduated from Hanover High School and took a teaching course at Kansas State University. Marie taught school, starting at Sunrise School. She also taught at Immanuel, Trinity and Bethlehem Schools. Marie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. On January 16, 1944 she was united in marriage to Arlo Kruse at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bremen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo, Sept. 1, 1991; parents; brothers, George and Walter; sisters, Louise Linkugel and Martha Maurer; and son-in-law, Denzil Cooper. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Hoestje and husband, James, Bremen, and Ruth Cooper, Perham, Minn.; brother, Bill Linkugel, Marysville; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one step grandchild and two step great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
