Beatrice "Bea" Browning, 100, of Marysville, Kansas, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 26 at the Abbey Mausoleum Chapel at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Bea was born December 9, 1910 at Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Burton A. and Mary Anna (Shoup) Donnally. Her grandfather was the first white settler of Albuquerque where she was born. At a young age her family moved to the Dallas area where she lived most of her life. On April 18, 1933 she married Thomas Canafax at Fort Worth, Texas. At the age of 94 she moved to Marysville to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Lonnie Phillips. She lived independently until 2007, when she moved to Country Place Senior Living in Marysville. She recently moved to Cambridge Place before her death. Bea loved to travel and loved exploring cities and all the activities and features they had to offer. She was a mall walker most of her life for exercise and participated in the Race for a Cure numerous times. She enjoyed reading and following the news and politics. She would diligently read the Wall Street Journal and became a prudent investor. Bea loved her children and grandchildren and would volunteer to help with many of their activities from Girl Scouts to the P.T.A. She was the consummate volunteer. God gave Bea the gift of joy and she shared it with her friends and family. She was a strong and remarkable matriarch of her family and a protector of each. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Thomas Canafax and Boyd Browning; and son, Thomas D. Canafax. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Phillips and husband, Lonnie, Marysville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
