Irene K. Costello, 99, of Marysville, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 5 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville. The Rev. Marilyn Sweet officiated. Carol O’Neal played the organ while Greg Marples sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Lords Prayer”. The pallbearers were Rob Pacha, Keith Warders, Mike Kurth, Micah Miller, Maurice Titsworth and Mitch Hendricks. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Irene was born October 16, 1911, at Marysville, Kansas, daughter of Irvin L. and Eda S. (Meyer) Otto. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1928 and then attended business school in Lincoln, Nebraska. On April 30, 1939 she married Vince Costello at her parents home near Marysville. Irene worked at Firestone in Marysville, the Marshall County Courthouse and was the bookkeeper for their family business, Costello's Service. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and other card games, golfing, dancing, and playing the piano, music and her family. Irene was a fifty plus year member of both Beta Sigma Phi and Eastern Star. She also was a member of various card clubs, the Investment Club and Post Script. Until her death she was the longest and oldest member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, joining on January 23, 1923. Her parents; husband, Vince, on November 3, 1978; and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Katherine (Ray) Pacha, Marysville, Cheryl (Dean) Kurth, North Platte, Neb., and Marilee (Ronald) Schneider, Lincoln, Neb.; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
