Helen E. Koeneke, 94, of Marysville, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 17, at Immanuel State Line Lutheran Church, north of Marysville. The Rev. Travis Panning officiated. Mary Lou Retchless played the organ while the congregation sang "Rock of Ages" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". The choir sang "Abide With Me". The pallbearers were Ivan Bartels, Don Stenglemeier, Bob Tye, Jim Carlson, Don Prell and James Kroeger. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Helen was born on November 6, 1916 at Hanover, the daughter of Henry and Wilhemina Lohse Rettig. On March 28, 1937 she married Herbert Koeneke at Herkimer. Helen was a housekeeper and did cleaning and ironing for people. She was a member of Immanuel State Line Lutheran Church. Survivors include her son, Dennis (Betty) Koeneke, Marysville; daughter, Rosetta (Ronald) Jacobson, Clay Center; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert, in 1997; daughter, Diana Figge in 2004; brothers, Martin, Paul, Albert, and Roy Rettig; sisters, Anna Allerheiligen and Agnes Allerheiligen.
