Agatha M. Sparks

Agatha M. Sparks, 91, of Marysville, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, at Kinsley Mortuary. The Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Agatha was born August 9, 1919 at Herkimer, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Catherine B. (Ford) Rockwell. On May 11, 1940 she married Clarence "Bud" Flin. They later divorced. On February 28, 1948 she married Howard C. "Sparky" Sparks. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1972. Sparky and Agatha owned and operated the Imperial and Sinclair service stations in Marysville. Agatha also worked at J&D's as a cashier, Westgate, Shorty's, June's Bar & Grill and the Wagon Wheel. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary in Marysville. Agatha enjoyed her grandkids, she loved taking them to their wrestling matches, enjoyed the lake, spending time with her family and just enjoyed being around people. Survivors include her children, Elaine Bumgardener (Jack), Burden, Kan., Howard Duane Sparks (Margie), Quinter, Kan., Bonnie Jean Beckman, Marysville, Larry Eugene Sparks (Barbara), Milwaukee, Oregon, Douglas Leon Flin (Judy), Highland Ranch, Colo., Ron Sparks (Deb), Marysville, and Riley Gene Sparks, Marysville; twenty-seven grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandsons; and her brothers and sisters, Lilly, Dottie, Frank and Daniel Rockwell.
