Edna Ann McClary, 93, of Frankfort, Kansas, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Wichita, Kansas. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 28 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1 at the church. Father Pat Sullivan officiated. Moogie Roeder played the organ and Rheta Matson was the Cantor. Music included "Be Not Afraid", "The Old Rugged Cross", "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles Wings" and "O Loving God". The pallbearers were Derek Sandmann, Ryan Bailey, Kenneth Arnold, Jason Mellies, Ty Goossen and Collin McClary. Burial was in St. Wenceslas Cemetery, south of Blue Rapids. Edna Ann McClary was born on May 3, 1917 at Blue Rapids, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Tessie Phelps Vail. She married George McClary on October 5, 1935 at Blue Rapids. He preceded her in death in 1998. Edna was a Nurses Aid for 30 years, working at Community Memorial Hospital and at the Marshall County Nursing Home. She also was a cook at the Annuniciation Catholic School, where she started the lunch program. She was a member of Annuniciation Catholic Church, Altar Society, and the Red Hat Society. Edna enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos. Survivors include her daughters, Katheryn (Glen) Fox of Frankfort, Beverly Kennedy of Pleasanton, Texas, Joann Murk of Topeka, Dorothy (Allen) Raub of Dodge City, and Billie Goossen of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Barb McClary of Quilcene, Washington; 29 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George in 1998, sons, George Ronald McClary and Henry Arthur McClary, brothers, Herman and Edwin Vail, sisters, Lillian Hoffman and Doris Worthington. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
