Carl "Crusher" H. Schulte, 84, of Blue Rapids, Kansas, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang "I Am The Bread Of Life", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles Wings", "Song Of Farewell" and "Be Not Afraid". Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Smnr Post 163. Crusher was born June 21, 1926 at Marysville, the son of Joseph and Gladys Hedrix Schulte. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1944. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1947. After his honorable discharge he returned to Marysville and farmed. Crusher enjoyed visiting with people and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surivors include his brother, Jean H. Schulte, Mission, Kan.; one niece, Cathy (Randy) McIntosh, Prairie Village, Kan.; two nephews, Karl (Christine) Schulte, Shawnee, Kan., and John (Emily) Schulte, Wichita, Kan.; and seven great-nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory's Church or School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
