Ella Mae Schneider, 89, of Oketo, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville, Kansas. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 11 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. The Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Tam Gordon played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “I Am the Light of the World”, “Beyond the Sunset”, “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”. The pallbearers were Scott Schneider, Ryan Tjaden, Brian House, Lee Twarling, Jason Sejkora and Kevin Crome. Burial was in the Mission Creek Cemetery, north of Beattie. Ella Mae was born September 17, 1921 near Beattie, Kansas, the daughter of Louis and Ada (Ekstrum) Haley. In 1940 she graduated from Beattie High School. On September 27, 1942 she married Ivan Schneider at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening flowers and vegetables, baking, helping with 4H projects, family get-togethers, playing cards, dancing and following her grandchildren's activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan, on February 13, 2006; two sisters, Margaret Ward and Grace Davis; and one granddaughter, Kara Sejkora. Survivors include one son, Ron (Linda) Schneider, Beattie, Kan.; three daughters, Sharon (Larry) Cameron, Summerfield, Kan., Bonnie (Allen) Stewart, Weston, Missouri, and Linda (Brad) Sejkora, Burchard, Neb.; one brother, Robert (Norma) Haley, Topeka, Kan.; four sisters, Pearl Roesch, Beattie, Larrene Deihl, Arvada, Colo., Lillian Roberts, Amery, Wisc., and Joyce (Paul) Holenbeck, Frankfort, Kan.; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the church and/or Meadowlard Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
