Virginia L. Cudney, 77, of Marysville, Kansas, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at her home. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25 at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Virginia was born Jan. 14, 1934, at Miller, Kan., the daughter of Gus Ingerly and Minnie Dickson Ingerly. She graduated from Irving High School and attended Kansas State University for two years. She married John R. Cottrell on December 24, 1953, they later divorced. She married Merle Cudney on Oct. 27, 1971, at Elko, Nevada. Virginia had worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an ASCS supervisor. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, shopping at antique malls and watching KU basketball. Survivors include one son, Roger Cottrell of Marysville, two step-sons, Mike Cudney of Shawnee, and Bryan Cudney of Wichita; two daughters, Brenda Cottrell of Marysville, and Ronda Noel of Wichita, two step-daughters, Vickie Hoffman of Fruita, Colo., and Susan McGlasson of Masonville, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Ingerly; and husband Merle Cudney, who died Nov. 19, 2009. Memorials have been established to Meadowlark Hospice.
