Irene Frances Throm, 68, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Pat Sullivan officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang “Here I Am Lord”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “On Eagles Wings” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were nephews, Matt Borgerding, Courtney Cassidy, David Borgerding, James Borgerding, Christopher Augustine and John Henry Borgerding. The honorary pallbearers were nephews, Luke Borgerding, Ron Augustine, Mark Borgerding, Tyler Augustine, Michael Borgerding and Danny Borgerding. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Irene was born on April 3, 1943 near Marysville, the daughter of Henry and Mary Caroline (Smith) Borgerding. In 1961 she graduated from Marysville High School and then from Crums Beauty College in Manhattan. On her birthday, April 3, 1970, she married Marvin Throm at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Irene was a homemaker and beautician. She also operated a ceramic shop for a few years. Irene was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Altar Society and E.H.U. She made quilts for all of her family and enjoyed fishing, crocheting, baking pies and cakes, cooking for family get-togethers, and watching the kids in their school events. Survivors include her husband, Marvin, Marysville; son, Brian (Rita) Throm, Marysville; daughter, Betsy Boren, Marysville; four brothers, Henry (Marilyn) Borgerding, and Jim (Jeannette) Borgerding, all of Blue Rapids, Kan., Paul (Dee) Borgerding, Anderson, Ind., and David (Mary Jane) Borgerding, Stillwell, Kan.; sister, Mary (Sam) Cassidy, Beattie, Kan.; sister-in-law, Marj Borgerding, DeWitt, Neb.; brother-in-law, Al Augustine, Salina, Kan.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Borgerding; and sister, Helena Augustine. Memorials will be designated later and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.
