Carl Edward Grieshaber, age 86 of Metaire, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Chateau Living Center in Kenner. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang "All The Earth, Proclaim The Lord", "Fill My Cup Lord", "Lord You Have Come" and "I Have Loved You". The pallbearers were Bob Thompson, Barry Truesdell, Connor Uzee, Brett Uzee, Rudie Hill and Martin Grieshaber. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Carl was born April 1, 1925 at Marysville to Rudolph and Evelyn (Truesdell) Grieshaber. He attended Marysville High School then enlisted in the Army Air Corps. After earning his wings in June 1944, he completed 77 missions over the Himalayas from China to India as a 1st Lieutenant. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and a medal of appreciation from the Chinese government. Carl attended Kansas State University, after being discharged, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He worked for several major and independent oil and gas companies. He retired from Dominion Resources in 1990. Carl was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Parish, a member of New Orleans Geological Society, Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Kansas State University Alumni Association. He served on the Geological Advisory Board at Kansas State University. He belonged to the St. Philip Neri and Archbishop Rummel Grandparents Clubs, Marysville High School Alumni Association, Hump Pilots Association (China, Burma, India), AAF Pilot Classes of WWII, The American Legion and a charter member of the World War II Museum. Surviving him are his wife of 63 years, Carlene (Leeds) Grieshaber; children, Martin (Heather) Grieshaber, Oro Valley, AZ, Ronald (Vicki) Grieshaber, New Orleans, LA, Janis Grieshaber , Marysville, Thomas (Andre’) Grieshaber, Metairie, LA, Cathleen (Joe) Uzee, Kenner, LA; grandchildren, Kelly G.(Patrick McAtee), Pearce, Andrew, Cole and Allie Grieshaber, Conner, Brett and Sarah Uzee, Jessica M. Suhowatsky, and great grandchildren, Collin Lindsay, Reid, Cy and Lily McAtee; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, David Grieshaber; and sister, Ann G. Hill.
