Norma L. Zimmerman

Norma L. Zimmerman, 86, of Marysville, Kansas, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15 at St. Gregory's. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while Paula Landoll-Smith sang “Here I Am Lord”, “Ave Maria”, “Prayer of St. Francis” and “You Are Mine”. The pallbearers were Joe Bergman, Brandon Bergman, Josh Bergman, Jesse Bergman, James Hoffman, Marcus Bergman and Ryan Feldhausen. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Norma was born December 26, 1924 at Sabetha, Kansas, daughter of Edward and Malinda (Brammer) Brunner. In January 1947, she married Regis Bergman at Seneca, Kansas. To this union seven children were born. Regis preceded her in death. On July 2, 1966, she married Clifford Zimmerman at Marysville. At a young age she moved to Chicago and worked in accounting for a company until her sister was in an auto accident. Norma made the decision to return and help raise her sisters two children. Norma also worked at Dr. Hash’s office in Seneca, Axtell Hospital, housekeeping at Community Memorial Healthcare and as a nurse’s aide at the Blue Valley Nursing Home. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards. In July 2010, she moved to the Frankfort Community Care Home. Her parents; husband, Clifford Zimmerman; sister, Leota Cunningham; grandson, Donald “Bud” Cudney, Jr.; and son-in-law, Joe Gallagher, preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Marcia Gallagher, Cleveland, Mo., Carol (Don) Blocker, Marysville, Larry (Gwen) Bergman, Lincoln, Neb., Danny Bergman, Marysville, Nancy (Don) Cudney, Marysville, Roger Bergman, Topeka, Kan., Fred (Pam) Bergman, Belton, Mo., Mary (Delbert) Hoffman, Haddam, Kan., David (Jan) Zimmerman, Lincoln, Neb., and Frances (Dan) Feldhausen, Marysville; brother, Marvin (Ella Mae) Brunner, Sabetha, Kan.; sister, Naomi Aschleman, Deer Creek, Ill.; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
