Irvil Dwayne West, 73, of Marysville, Kansas, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, Missouri. A rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 19, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy and Father Gary Pennings officiated. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Dwayne was born on April 27, 1938 at Belleville, Kansas, the son of Irvil and Myrtle (Allen) West. On September 1, 1961, he married Patricia Jolly. Along with his wife, Pat, her brother and his wife, they owned and operated Jolly West IGA in Blue Rapids from 1971-1975. They then moved to Wichita and Dwayne worked in the aircraft industry, working for Boeing, Lear Jet, and retired from Raytheon in 2000. In 2001 they moved to Marysville. Dwayne was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Riders and the Blackhawks Motorcycle Club. He loved fishing, bird hunting, riding motorcycles, being with his family and July 4th parties. Survivors include his three sons, Mike (Fanita) West, Wichita, Gary (Lucy) West, Marysville, and Bill (Allison) West, Gunnison, Colo.; three grandchildren, Eric West, Wade West and Megan Willoughby; four great-grandchildren, Rhaygen, Bryson, Payton Willoughby and Cooper West. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat, on April 25, 2010 at Marysville; and brother, Gary West.
