Robert Holle, 73, of Hanover, Kan., passed away July 2, 2011 at the Hanover Hospital surrounded by his family. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lanham, Kansas. The Rev. Jill Menard officiated. Mae Nieman played the organ while Kelsey Goodwin sang “Softly & Tenderly” and “How Great Thou Art”. The congregation sang “Face to Face” and “My Course Is Run”. The pallbearers were Justin Holle, Jacob Holle, Dylan Holle, Ben Pakkala, Tyler Holle and Craig Holle. The honorary pallbearers were Ed Rettig, Larry Mueller, Dale Cook, Vernon Nieman, Delbert Grefe and Wilbur Jueneman. Floral tributes were by Ashley Holle, Kirsten Holle, Camry Holle, Abbie Pakkala and Sydney Pakkala. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Lanham. Robert was born on November 4, 1937, the son of Ben and Martha Holle. He was baptized at Hermansburg Lutheran Church in Bremen and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanover in 1951. Robert attended school at Immanuel Lutheran School in Bremen and Trinity Lutheran School in Hanover. On December 14, 1958, he married Manetha Maatsch. Robert was employed by Mueller Sand and Gravel for 33 years. In 1996, he partnered with his son, Jay, to establish Midwest Products. Robert was a member of many community organizations including Hanover Chamber of Commerce, Hanover City Council, Friends of Hollenberg Station, and many others. Robert was dedicated to the growth and development of Hanover, and took pride in being involved in local community improvement projects. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel; brother, Leroy; two sisters, Adeline and Rosanna; granddaughter, Kelsey; and an infant grandson. Survivors include his wife Manetha; dog, Flip; brother, Willis (Berdean) Holle, Hanover; twin sister, Roberta (Verlin) Welch, Hubbell, Neb.; sons, Jay (Deb) Holle, Hanover, Randy (Phyllis) Holle, Hutchinson, and Russ (Ruth) Holle, McPherson; daughter, Rhonda (Mike) Pakkala, Lakeville, Minn.; and grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Tyler, Jake, Kirsten, Dylan, Ben, Camry, Abbie and Sydney. The Hanover Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
