Mary Ann Seeberger, 90, of Overbrook, Kansas, formerly of Hanover, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook. Visitation was Friday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A Vigil service was held at 7:30 p.m., Friday evening, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, at St. John's Catholic Church. Father David Metz officiated. The St. John's Choir sang "Here I Am Lord", "Prayer of St. Francis", "On Eagles Wings", and "Peace Is Flowing Like A River", accompanied by Bob Welch on the organ. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Bryan Averill, Alec Averill, Nathan Averill, Bill Seeberger, Josh Seeberger, Zach Seeberger, and Bryan Cunningham. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Mary Ann was born October 2, 1920, on a farm near Menlo, KS, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Schlageck) Schiltz. Mary Ann graduated from Menlo High School and then from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Concordia, KS, in 1943. She worked at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver and then at St. Thomas Hospital in Colby, KS. On Dec. 27, 1945, she married Gilbert A. Seeberger at Seguin, KS. After getting married they resided in Hanover. Mary Ann spent the rest of her nursing career at the Hanover Hospital & Long Term Care, where she served as a surgical nurse and was the Director of Nursing until her retirement in 1983. Hobbies included baking, painting, knitting, quilting, and following her children's and grandchildren's many activities. Mary Ann was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hats Club of Hanover. Survivors include her four children, Dan (Sharon) Seeberger, Hanover, KS, Jayne (Bob) Holle, Phillipsburg, KS, Susan (Scott) Averill, Overbrook, KS, and Jim (Kathy) Seeberger, Wamego, KS; two sisters, Catherine (Varlan) Neal, Oberlin, KS, and Florine (Harry) Prichard, Denver, CO; two sister-in-laws, Jeanette (Roy) Hanson, Marysville, KS, and Edna Schiltz, Selden, KS; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert, on February 4, 2006; infant son, Frankie Joe; sister, Loretta Hayden; and brother, Harold Schiltz. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic School, the Hanover Hospital, or Brookside Retirement Community and can be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
