Irene M. Sandmann, 86, of Marysville, Kansas, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, at St. Gregory's. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang “Be Not Afraid”, "Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings”, “You Are Mine” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Todd Sandmann, Brandon Sandmann, Eric Sandmann, Ronnie Bramlage, Lynn Bruna and Eddie Keating. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Irene was born May 28, 1925 at Hanover, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Goeckel) Bramlage. She attended school at Hanover. On April 24, 1945 she married Bill Sandmann of Marysville, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. She was a member of St. Malachy’s and St. Gregory’s Catholic Churches, Altar Society, and Snipe Creek Happy Hour Club. Irene’s hobbies were reading, sewing and cooking. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeanne; sister, Mary Ann Rombeck; brothers, William, Gilbert and Bernard. Survivors include her husband, Bill; three sons, Bob (Deb) Sandmann, Frankfort, Jim (Lynette) Sandmann, Beattie, and Mark Sandmann, Frankfort; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory's Catholic Church or St. Gregory's Catholic School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
