Audrey I. McAtee, 85, of Marysville, Kansas, died Friday, November 11, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, at Kinsley Mortuary. Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden.” The pallbearers were Nick Greeley, Thomas Brown, Kevin McKee, Roger Malcom, Jason Gibson and Lennie Walters. Burial was in the Oketo Cemetery. Audrey was born on April 21, 1926 in rural Marshall County, the daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Suggett) Gibson. She attended the Oketo schools and was high school class valedictorian. On April 6, 1946, she married Harold McAtee. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2005. Audrey was a homemaker and she also worked other various jobs as a cashier, in an insurance office, department store, bank and Max's Heating and Air Conditioning. She lived in Blue Rapids from 1985 until 2007 when she moved back to Marysville. Audrey enjoyed crocheting, fishing, dancing and playing cards. Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Naranjo, Marysville, Judy Rush, Tampa, FL, and Shirley Brown, Marysville; two brothers, Harold Gibson, Marietta, KS, and Lyle Gibson, Horton, KS; sister, Lila Collins, Marysville; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Carol; and sister, Eula Larmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marysville American Legion and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
