Dorothy "Dora" S. Wise, 97, of Marysville, Kansas, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Blue Rapids, Kansas. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. The Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ and sang “In the Garden” and “Rock of Ages”. The pallbearers were Bob Scott, Jack Ulmer, Wes Johnson, Butch Neumann, Kent Obermeyer and Robert Griswold. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Dora was born September 15, 1914 near Herkimer, Kansas, the daughter of William and Sophia (Millenbruch) Holle. She attended country school near Herkimer. On July 7, 1941 she married Chester Wise at Topeka, Kansas. The couple owned and operated the Marysville Taxi in the 40's. Dorothy also worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. She was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester, on November 22, 2006, an infant brother; and her sister, Nora Wilder. Survivors include her sister, Betty Turner, Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law, Lillian Fuller, Salina; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial fund has been established to the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
