Dorothy Hicks, 67, of Frankfort, KS, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at her home. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17 at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while Amy Harper-Jacques sang "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Amazing Grace". The pallbearers were Corbin Witt, Lance Stowell, Chris Hybarger, Lloyd Cochran, Robert Cochran, Kenneth Cochran and Raymond Cochran. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Dorothy was born on September 26, 1944 at Frankfort to Robert and Martha (Raymond) Lindeen. She attended school in Frankfort graduating in 1962. On June 15, 1963, she was united in marriage to Larry L. Hicks at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. She worked as a cook for the Frankfort Community Care Home for 36 years and most recently the Frankfort Schools as a fill in cook. She enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather, William Burton; and daughter, Julie Ann Hicks. She is survived by her husband, Larry Hicks; daughters, Lori (Corbin) Witt, Salina, KS, Sheri (Chris) Hybarger, Las Vegas, NV, Tami (Lance) Stowell, Vermillion, KS; brother, Robert (Marilyn Ann) Lindeen, Eudora, KS; two half brothers, Jerry (Joy) Lindeen, Baileyville, KS, and William (Jill) Burton, Silver Lake, KS; sister, Martha "Pat" (Ed) Brady, Lillis, KS; and six grandchildren, Chelsie and Shelbie Witt, Payton Hybarger, and Garrison, Bryce and Tana Stowell. A memorial fund has been established to the Frankfort EMS or the American Arthritis Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of the Padden Funeral Home.
