Lloyd E. Gerstner, 93, of Marysville, KS, and formerly of Frankfort, KS, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 10 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Father Pat Sullivan, Father Jim Shaughnessy and Father Bill Bruning will officiate. Moogie Roeder will play the organ while the church choir sings “Be Not Afraid”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “Parable” and “Led By the Spirit.” The pallbearers will be Eric Gerstner, Ryan Gerstner, Jerry Gerstner, Greg Dressman, Chris Gerstner, Jared Dressman, Randy Gerstner and Adam Dressman. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. Lloyd was born on May 30, 1918 in Nebraska, the son of Anthone J. and Josephine (Samson) Gerstner. On June 2, 1941 he married Rita Flaherty. To this union five children were born. She preceded him in death in 1999. On June 2, 2001, he married Caroline Bruna. After high school Lloyd attended business school and farmed most of his life. Lloyd was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He began golfing at age 65. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Rita; brother, Harvey Gerstner; and grandson, Michael Gerstner, in June 1983. Survivors include his wife, Caroline, Marysville; four sons, Gerald (Sheryl) Gerstner, Frankfort, John (Sheila) Gerstner, Jacksonville, FL, Dan (Jeanie) Gerstner, Vermillion, and Charles, (Peggy) Gerstner, Frankfort; daughter, Marilyn (Ivan) Dressman, Frankfort; two step-sons, Don Bruna and Lynn Bruna, both of Marysville; step-daughters, Judy Swanson and Leann Legault, both of Topeka; brother, Melvin (Josephine) Gerstner, Jefferson City, MO; two sisters, Eleanor Kidwell, Horton, KS, and Rita (Neil) Punches, Muskegon, MI; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, and many step-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
