Melanie Renee Graves

Melanie Renee Graves, 34, of Marysville, Kansas died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at her home in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 4, at the Blue Rapids Community Center. Rev. Wendell Sack officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, south of Blue Rapids. Melanie was born on May 25, 1977 at Petersburg, Virginia, the daughter of Jackson Wayne Crowder, Sr., and Carol Sue Stumbo. She graduated from Linn High School in 1995. On August 17, 1997 she married Brian Graves at Washington, Kansas. She was a Certified Nurses Aide and had worked at the Linn Community Nursing Home, Homestead Nursing Home in Washington, and the Hanover Hospital in Hanover. Survivors include her husband, Brian Graves, Greenleaf; brother, Jack (Monica) Crowder, Blue Rapids; sister, Cindy Pettus, Marysville; step-father, Ray Overton, Waterville; and father, Jackson Crowder, Sr., Petersburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Overton; and brother, Gary Pettus. Kinsley Mortuary of Marysville is in charge of arrangements.
