Edwin D. Cammel, 86, of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 20, at Kinsley Mortuary. Rev. Jerry Zanker officated. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Edwin was born on August 5, 1925 at Marysville, the son of Edward Charles and Edith Marion (Marks) Cammel. In 1943, he graduated from Marysville High School. From June of 1943 until April of 1946 he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. After returning from the service he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for a short time. In January of 1948 he began working at the Marysville Advocate and remained there until retiring on January 1, 1990. On June 10, 1950, he married Eva Henderson of Wymore, NE. They were the parents of two children, Cathy and Robert. Ed enjoyed golfing, going to the casino, metal detecting, fishing, and attended all of his kids sports and other activities. He was a member of the Marysville American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Cammel; and sisters-in-law, Anna Lee Cammel, Helen Henderson and Rosie Pieper. Survivors include his wife, Eva; daughter, Cathy (Gary) Lindquist, Marysville; son, Robert (Laurie Koch) Cammel, Riley, KS; grandchildren, Lance Lindquist, April (Heath) Todd and Erin Cammel; and three great-grandsons, Quentin Seals, Troy and Tyler Todd. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
