Audine Ekberg

Audine Ekberg, 89, longtime resident of Manhattan, KS, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Point Lookout Nursing & Rehab Facility in Hollister, MO. A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, at the Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan, KS. Audine was born December 5, 1922 at Axtell, KS, the daughter of Clifford and Edythe (Young) McKee. After growing up and attending school at Summerfield, KS, she moved to Manhattan, KS. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Manhattan Hospital and in private care. Audine took great pride in caring for her home both inside and outside. She enjoyed yard work, taking care of the garden and flowers, and helping others with their spring cleaning. She also enjoyed gathering with friends and playing cards. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Fellowship Group. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Zuercher, Branson, MO; son, Kent Ekberg, Manhattan; sister, Marge Larkin, Marysville; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Ekberg; sister, Shirley McKee; brother, Ronald McKee, and grandson, Kyle. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
