Mary "Elaine" Regnier, 92, of Beattie, KS, died March 3, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, at the Beattie United Methodist Church. Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Janet Plegge played the organ while Jennifer Gee sang “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” The pallbearers were Shawn A. Hiatt, Shawn M. Hiatt, Tom Dawson, Jacob E. Hiatt, Jason Rourke and Joel Rourke. Burial was in the Beattie Union Cemetery. Elaine was born September 26, 1919, south of Beattie, to John and Lula May DeVault Hadorn. She attended Life Grade School and graduated from Marysville High School in 1937. She worked for Coe Seed Co., of Topeka, later the Civil Service, Fort Leavenworth school system for 15 years, taught school north of Beattie and Life School. Elaine was a member of Eastern Star, Snipe Creek Club, United Methodist Church and Womens Club, Post Script Club, and volunteered at the library and Marshall County Historical Society. In 1946, she married Wesley Hiatt. She later married Evert Regnier. Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Jerry) Rourke, Assaria, KS; two sons, Terry (Donna) Hiatt, Leavenworth, KS, and Dennis Hiatt and friend, Susan Dunando, Blue Rapids, KS; brother, Calvin Hadorn, Marysville; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Evert; and brother, Dale. A memorial fund has been established to the Beattie United Methodist Church or Meadowlark Hospice.
