Daniel John Schwarz, 23, formerly of Home, KS, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 from injuries in a one-vehicle accident in rural Nemaha County. Visitation was Wednesday, March 7, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 8, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Rosemary Forst played the organ while cantor, Paula Landoll-Smith, led the choir in singing “Be Not Afraid”, “Here I Am Lord”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Song of Farewell” and “I Have Loved You.” The pallbearers were Mike Chase, Ryan Haupt, Ben Hawkins, Nick Robbins, Chance Hartner and Clayton Chase. The honorary pallbearers were Cody Lee, Larry Roetter, Big Jim Beam, Mark Shoemaker, Mitchell Rengstorf and Brandon Broxterman. Burial was in the church cemetery. Daniel was born October 25, 1988, at Marysville, KS, son of David and Geraldine (Haupt) Schwarz. He was serving his apprenticeship as a Boilermaker for Local #83 at D&Z Co. in the Westar Power System. He was to graduate in July and attain Journeymen Boilermaker. He just recently moved to Havensville. In 2007, he graduated from Marysville High School. He loved to play baseball, softball, golf and enjoyed many other outdoor activities. In high school, he worked for Fisher Rock in Home, KS. He was a member of Boy Scouts, St. Gregory's Catholic Church and was a 1st Degree Knights Of Columbus. Survivors include his parents, David and Gerry Schwarz, Home; sisters, Ginny (Trevor) Gill, Fairbury, NE, Bobbi (Allen) Scott, Home; brothers, Jeff Gray, Nebraska City, NE, and Dominic Schwarz, Home; grandparents, Elmer and Isla Schwarz, Home, and Virginia Haupt, Syracuse, NE; nephew, Bryan Scott, nieces, Alexandra Scott, Rylee Gill and Jordin Gill. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Haupt; uncle, Ed Brown; and cousins, Paula Brown and Kelsey Kempkes. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
