Diana D. Plegge, 76, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville, where she has resided since December 15, 2011. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 2, at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Gail Gilkerson was the organist. Rev. Dale and Angie Lewis sang “Holes in the Floor of Heaven” and “Hymn of Promise.” The congregation sang “Pass It On.” Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Diana was born December 7, 1935 at Buffalo, NY, daughter of Stanley and Clara (Graczyk) Rogalski. In 1954, she graduated from Orchard Park High School, Orchard Park, NY. On November 27, 1958 she married Ralph Plegge at Orchard Park. Diana worked at Walmart for 11 years and part-time for her daughter at the Wagon Wheel where she baked pies, cakes, and other desserts. She enjoyed family get-togethers, playing cards (except getting outbid & going set in pitch), gardening, planting flowers, and K-State Basketball. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Jennifer, at dance recitals, and her granddaughter, Katie Jo, play softball, basketball, and show cattle. Diana traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, England, Ireland, Scotland, the Caribbean, and various other places in the United States. One of her biggest joys was her two dogs, Taz and Jack, who sat in her lap and slept by her bed, especially in the last few months when she was still at home. She often referred to them as her babies. Diana was a very loving and caring person. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Survivors include her husband, Ralph; son, Michael Plegge, Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Laurie Parks, Marysville; two granddaughters, Jennifer Parks, San Antonio, TX, and Katie Jo Parks, Marysville; and a sister, Dorothy Shotwell, Orchard Park, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. A memorial fund has been established and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.
