Dennis E. White, 83, of Hanover, KS, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Washington County Hospital. A rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, at St. John's Catholic Church. Father David Metz and Father James White officiated. Janet Fritschi play the organ. Bridget White, Chantel White and Taylor Feldkamp sang. Music included “On Eagles Wings”, “Ave Maria”, “In the Garden”, “Song of Farewell” and “God Bless America.” The pallbearers were Gabriel White, Brian Klecan, Donald Klecan, Anthony White, Matthew White, Josh Brinkerhoff, John Brinkerhoff and Andrew Feldkamp. The honorary pallbearers were John Koppes, Roy Smith, Mark Goeckel, Charlie Foster, John White, Harold Travelute, Harold Jarmin, Mark Bruna and Loren Louderback. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hanover. Dennis was born September 8, 1928 on the White Homestead near Bremen, KS, son of Bernard H. and Mary (Klataske) White. He attended Pecenka School and in 1947 graduated from Marysville High School. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 15 years. He served on the Washington County Soil Conservation Board, State Soil Conservation Board, Hanover Township Board, Washington County Airport Board and St. John’s Catholic School Board. He was a 4-H Leader and 62-year member of the Knights of Columbus. Dennis was a past president of the Kansas Farmers Union and 12 year member of the Kansas National Guard. On February 15, 1958 he married Mary Catherine Koppes at St. John’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas White; and brother, Don White. Survivors include his wife, Mary Catherine White; three daughters, Cathie (Don) Klecan, Odell, NE, Lisa Brinkerhoff, Huntington, UT, and Margaret (Fred) Feldkamp, Axtell, KS; two sons, Michael (Jane) White and Dennis (Karla) White, all of Hanover; sister, Mary Jean McCawley, Washington, KS, and Dorothy Cooley of Poulsbo, WA; brother, Bernard J. White, Des Moines, WA; twenty-six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
