Arlan C. "Ace" Edwards, 73, of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln, NE. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, at the American Legion Smnr Post 163 in Marysville. The Rev. Richard Mullen officiated. Tam Gordon played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “Amazing Grace”, “You Raise Me Up” and “Because He Lives.” The pallbearers were John E. Nordquist, Jr., Matthew Nordquist, Derek Landrum, Jeremy Landrum, Larry Miller and Roger Miller. Burial was in the Home City Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy and American Legion. Arlan was born on October 8, 1938 south of Home, KS, to Frank and Alta Faye (Knight) Edwards. In 1956 he graduated from Frankfort High School. He volunteered for the U.S. Navy on October 1, 1956 and served until retiring on November 1, 1976 as Chief Warrant Officer 2. Arlan was a veteran of the Vietnam War in 1965 and 1971. Arlan worked as maintenance man at Mary Marshall Manor in Marysville for 25 years and then moved to Oxford, FL, where he worked at a nursing home for 8 years. On May 14, 1998 he married Barbara Craig at Bushnell, FL. In 2005 they moved back to Marysville. He was a member of the Marysville American Legion Post #163, Post #163 Patroit Guard, Veterans of Foreign Wars #10084 at Lake Panasoffkee, Florida and the Moose Lodge #1403. Survivors include his wife Barbara Edwards, Marysville; three sons, Mark Edwards, Lemoore, CA, Robert Flood, IA, and Chris Flood, Marysville; two daughters, Wendi (John) Nordquist, Blue Rapids, KS, and Deborah Sava, Hot Springs, AK; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Adrienne Miller. Memorials will be designated later and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
