Leona M. Peters, 92, of Marysville, passed away May 12, 2012 at Community Memorial Healthcare. Visitation was Monday, May 14, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday, at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday May 15, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Marysville. Burial was in the Marysville Cemetery. Leona was born September 24, 1919 at Home, KS, daughter of Fred and May Binggeli. She went to grade school at Midway north of Home City. Leona went to Wichita and worked as a waitress and later moved back to Marysville to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone. In 1947, she married Kenneth Peters from Washington, KS. He worked for Brauchi Brothers and Leona worked at A&B drug store. Leona was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ. She enjoyed the quilting club at her church. She liked traveling with her husband to Disney World, California, Arizona, Hawaii, and the Canary Islands. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth, in 1984; brothers, Clarence and Carl; and son, Doug, in 2011. Leona is survived by sons, Ron (Jade) Peters, Lenexa, KS, Alan Peters, McPherson, KS; daughter, Pam (Rich) Smith, Marysville; three sisters, Bonnie Hall, Baldwin, MI, Helen Miller, Marysville; and Mary McAdams, Manhattan, KS, and daughter-in-law, Connie Peters, Columbus, NE. and three grandchildren. A memorial fund had been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
