Veronica M. Bussmann, 93, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Friday, May 18, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 19 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Dolores Bruna played the organ while the church choir sang “Here I Am Lord”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Song of Farewell” and “How Great Thou Art.” The pallbearers were Mike Nordhus, Jim Nordhus, Joe Bussmann, Ben Bussmann, Jeff Bussmann and Steve Bussmann. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Veronica was born January 21, 1919 at Goff, KS, daughter of Henry and Josephine (Schultejans) Niehues. On April 11, 1939 she married Ben Bussmann at St. Bedes Catholic Church, Kelly, KS. They lived all their married life in the Marysville community where they raised three children, Bernard, Mary, and Frank. Veronica was a housewife and member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church and Altar Society. Survivors include her son, Bernard (Teresa) Bussmann; daughter, Mary (Jim) Nordhus; daughter-in-law, Colleen Bussmann, all of Marysville; sister, Anna Christman, Sabetha, KS; two brothers, Paul Niehues, Orland, CA, and Louis Niehues, Woodland CA; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben, in 1987; son, Frank, in 2007; and brothers, Joe, Aloysius, Henry, Raymond, Otto, Alfons, Anthony and Leo. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory's Catholic School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
