Grace L. Olmsted, 93, of Marysville, Kansas, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was on Friday, June 8, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9 at the Home Cemetery, north of Home, KS. with Rev. Judy Scott of the Evangelical United Church of Christ officiating. Grace was born on July 2, 1918 on the farm northeast of Home, KS, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Keller) Schlax. She attended the Home and Oketo grade schools and went to business college. On July 25, 1947 she married Donald I. Olmsted. She was a farm wife and they had one son, Richard. Grace was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. She also belonged to a quilting club and card club. She always looked forward to family get togethers, birthday parties, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas, New Years, and birthdays for her grandson, Lee. Survivors include her son, Richard Olmsted; and grandson, Lee Olmsted, both of Marysville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Donald, on January 31, 1986. Kinsley Mortuary was charge of arrangements.
