Norman R. Nork, 88, of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Cambridge Place. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 11 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, Marysville. Rev. Marilyn Sweet officiated. Carol O’Neal played the organ while Wayne Kruse and Pat Breeding sang “Whispering Hope” and Greg Marples sang “The End of a Perfect Day.” The pallbearers were Norman Severns, Gary Howland, Tracy Mann, Melvin Sedlacek, Wayne Link, Lee Papes and Lee Mattingly. The honorary pallbearers were Dennis Kramer, Howard Kessinger, Delmar Falen, Keith Sprouse, Bernie Krug and Jim Nork. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery with Masonic Funeral Rites provided by the Marysville Masonic Lodge and Military Rites provided by American Legion Smnr Post 163. Norman was born July 4, 1923 at Marysville, the son of Hjalmer and Linna (Ackerman) Nork. In 1941, he graduated from Marysville High School. He then attended Watchmaker school at Elgin, IL. He served the U.S. Navy on a PT boat in the Pacific Theatre. After his honorable discharge Norman returned to Marysville and worked with his family at Ackerman Jewelry Store. He later owned the jewelry store and operated it until his retirement. Norman enjoyed flowers and cats. He was a member of Rotary Club since 1947 and was recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. He also was a member of the Old Buzzard’s, American Legion Smnr Post 163, many Masonic organizations, and Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his brother, Robert (Patricia) Nork, Marysville; two nieces and many friends. A memorial fund has been established to the Memorial Presbyterian Church.
