Dixie L. Adolph, 76, of Marysville, KS, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. A graveside funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 12 at the Marysville City Cemetery. Rev. Donnie Stuart officiated. The pallbearers were Ron Prothe, Justin Welch, Jim Hall, Merlin Wall, Travis Edwards and Allen Benkendorf. Dixie was born November 24, 1935 at Lesterville, MO, daughter of Harmon Sylvester and Anne (Wright) Christian. In 1961, she graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing at Kansas City, MO. She worked at North Kansas City Hospital for 14 years before moving to Marysville in 1970. She worked at Mary Marshall Manor and retired from nursing in 1992. She later worked as a caregiver for Twin Valley Developmental Services in Marysville and Beattie. She was a member of Business and Professional Women's Organization and various nurses’ organizations. Dixie enjoyed traveling extensively including trips to the Caribbean, Europe and the Mediterranean, gardening, flowers, cooking, camping, ceramics, the Kansas Jayhawks, and her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle Wiard; four brothers, Raymond Tinker, Carl Tinker, Danny “Dane” Nardico and infant brother, Wendell Tinker; infant sister, Thelma Tinker; and grandson, Michael Prothe. Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Kimberly (Ron) Prothe, Marysville; stepdaughter, Marcina (Merlin) Wall, Overbrook, KS; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
