Michael P. Joyce, 54, of Marysville, KS, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home, Blue Rapids, KS. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 13 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Marysville. Sister Eulalia Kloeker officiated. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 14, at St. Gregory's. Father Jim Shaughnessy and Father Pat Sullivan officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while Anne Bruna and Marie Bruna sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Servant Song”, “On Eagles Wings”, “You Are Mine” and “I Have Loved You.” Burial was in the church cemetery. Michael was born February 14, 1958 at Kansas City, KS, son of Thomas M. and Carol L. (Haney) Joyce. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1975. He worked as a welder at Landoll Corporation until 1998 before he became disabled. Michael enjoyed model trains, drawing, movies and his dog, Max. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas M. Joyce; brother, Timothy J. Joyce; and nephew, Taylor White. Survivors include two children, Jessica (Rob) Reeves, Kansas City, MO, and Christopher Joyce, Reno, NV; mother, Carol L. Joyce, Marysville; sister, Jan (Kerry) White, Marysville; brother, Thomas "Tom" (Lani) Joyce, Wichita, KS; two step-daughters, Carrie Day and Tabitha Day; and five grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
