William "Bill" B. Droegemueller, 77, of Hanover, KS, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A rosary service was led by the Knights of Columbus at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 20 at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 21 at St. John's. Father David Metz officiated. Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “Shelter Me, O God”, “How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place”, “I Am the Bread of Life” and “Faith of Our Fathers.” Burial was in the church cemetery with Military Honors by the Hanover American Legion. Bill was born February 9, 1935 at Hanover, son of William and Elizabeth (Menke) Droegemueller. On August 24, 1974 he married Mary Lou Duffy at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church in Topeka, KS. They later divorced. In 1953, he graduated from Hanover High School. He then served in U.S. Air Force at Fairbanks, Alaska. After his honorable discharge he graduated from Kansas State University and became a high school Chemistry teacher. He later graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked as a Pharmacist at Memorial Hospital and Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka before retiring and moving to Hanover in 2000. Bill enjoyed his family, his church and sports. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, St. John’s Catholic Church, and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret O'Toole, Gertrude Stonger and Alice Throm; and brother, Albert Droegemueller. Survivors include his son, David (Rebecca) Droegemueller, Lyons, KS; and two grandchildren, Abigail and Anna. A memorial fund has been established to St. John's Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
