Laura Lee Eddy, 88, of Manhattan, KS, and formerly of Marysville, KS, died July 15, 2012 at Homestead Assisted Living in Manhattan. Visitation was Tuesday, July 17, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Marysville. Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Tam Gordon played the organ while Pat Breeding sang “Until Then” and “In the Bulb There Is a Flower.” The pallbearers were Pat Tryon, Elmer Blaske, Mike Blaske, Gene Houtz, Ron Keefover, Dale Meinecke and Richard Sabba. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Laura Lee was born September 15, 1923, at Marysville, KS, daughter of Ernest and Caroline (Grauer) Davis. She graduated from Marysville High School and then worked for the Selective Service until 1946. On September 30, 1945, she married Charles Eddy at the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Together they owned and operated Marysville Candy Company. After retiring they enjoyed traveling and taking trips to Las Vegas with friends. Laura Lee enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed her family. Laura Lee was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Phi Omega Pi. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles, on October 13, 2011; brother, James Davis; and sister, Dorothy Meinecke. Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Brad) Houtz, Manhattan, and Deborah (Jim) Bruna, Hanover, KS; son, Dennis Eddy, Topeka, KS; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Emily and Elise Houtz. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
