Laura V. Newton, 86, of Marysville, KS, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 17 at the Marysville City Cemetery. Laura was born near Summerfield on July 25, 1926 to Earl and Delilah Lynch. She attended Summerfield schools but graduated from Marysville High School. On June 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to Don Newton. They were married 63 years. Laura was a life-long member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Marysville Saddle Club. She was owner and operator of Newton Antiques and enjoyed attending sales in the Marysville area. Laura was an avid researcher of antique dishes. She taught Red Cross swimming lessons to many Marysville children. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Don; brother, Arnold "Dick" Lynch; and two infant brothers. Survivors include one son, Jerald (Alanna) Newton, Sedona, AZ; one daughter, Jody (Craig) Pralle, Sun City West, AZ; brother, Arden Lynch; three grandchildren, Mike, Courtney and Jennifer Pralle; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
