Eunice Mae Holeman, 82, of Marysville, KS, died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 7, at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Marysville. Rev. Marilyn Sweet officiated. The organists were Sharon Meyer and Carol O’Neil. The soloists were Peggy Link and Pat Breeding. Music included “It is Well with My Soul”, “Softly and Tenderly”, “How Great Thou Art”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand.” The pallbearers were Ryan Gates, Tyler Gates, Kevin Zrust, Daniel Zrust, Torrey Bevans, Matthew Zrust, Ryan Olberding, Benjamin Motley and Christopher Van Loenen. Burial was in the Marysville Cemetery. Eunice was born in Lyndon, Kansas on March 30, 1930, the eldest daughter of M. Vernon and Edetha Petersen Jeter. She graduated from Lyndon High School. She married Paul Cole and they had four children. Eunice managed the ladies department of Jeter s clothing store for 34 years. She enjoyed working with the public, always being kind and tender-hearted. On November 30, 1985 she married Allen Holeman. Allen had 3 daughters and their blended families brought them much joy. In 1997 Allen was diagnosed with emphysema and Eunice lovingly cared for him until he passed away in January 2004. Eunice enjoyed watching sports, playing bridge and working in the yard. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and Clerk of the Session. In 2005 Eunice was diagnosed with Alzheimers. She battled this disease with all of her might. Survivors include her children, Paula Cole-Zrust, Colorado Springs, CO, Richard and Melinda Cole, Fairfield, CA, Brent and Cheryl (Cole) Jones, Topeka, KS, Reinhard and Carla (Cole) Grund, Marysville, KS, John and Peggy (Holeman) Wilson, Topeka, KS, Steve and Linda (Holeman) Lock, Hiawatha, KS, and Galen and Sharon (Holeman) Meyer, Hiawatha, KS; 24 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her sister's family, JD, Marjorie, David, Darryl and Trevor Kos. Memorial contributions will be donated to the Homer Hanson Stadium Restoration Project and may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
