Emma J. Suther, 85, of Frankfort, KS, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A rosary service was Sunday, 4 p.m., at Annunciation Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Fr. Pat Sullivan officiated. Jeanie Gerstner played the organ while Rachel Holthaus sang "My Mother's Hands" and "Angels Among Us." The congregation sang "Here I Am Lord", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Be Not Afraid" and "Amazing Grace." The pallbearers were Ryan Bauer, Scott Bauer, Michael Fangman, Patrick Suther, Matthew Fangman, Andy Ronnebaum, John Daniel Suther and Adam Ronnebaum. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. Emma was born on April 25, 1927 in Frankfort, KS, the daughter of Elmer and Blanche (Slade) Ford. Mrs. Suther was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary, all in Frankfort. On April 27, 1949 she married Henry Suther at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. To this union were born six children. They located on a farm west of Frankfort. Emma was well known for her love of making wedding and birthday cakes. The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage on April 27, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry, in infancy; two sisters, Betty Zdenek and Shirley Schreiner; and one brother, Lyle Ford. Survivors include her husband, Henry, Frankfort; one son, John (Karen) Suther, Topeka; four daughters, JoAnn (Larry) Ronnebaum, Axtell, Janet Johnson, Frankfort, Judy (Greg) Fangman, Seneca, and Joyce (George) Bauer, Hiawatha; sister, Marvine Hancock, Phoenix, AZ; thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and one step great grandchild. Padden Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
