Robert L. Roever, 73 of Frankfort, Kansas died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home in Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Norma Jeanne Miller and Rodney Gouldin officiated. Janet Plegge played the organ while Steve Gleason sang. Music included “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Why Me Lord” and “The Greatest." The honorary pallbearers were Bob Koch, Dan Gerstner, Tom Wilson, Brian Taphorn, Ron Schroller and Paul Holenbeck. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion. Robert was born February 2, 1939 at Marysville, KS, son of Paul H. and Olive I. (Locke) Roever. In 1957, he graduated from Beattie High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. Bob always enjoyed these sports and coached Pony League and Little League Baseball in Frankfort and Beattie. On November 18, 1962, he married Beverly Woodard at Frankfort. They were the parents of three sons, Dana, Robert L., Jr., and Brian. Bob served in the U.S. Army and later in the Kansas Army National Guard. He worked for the Marshall County Road and Bridge Department and then worked at Georgia Pacific in Blue Rapids, where he retired. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Frankfort, Frankfort VFW, and the Beattie American Legion. Bob also served on the Beattie City Council and was a former mayor of Beattie. He was a lifelong KU fan and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Roever, Frankfort; son, Robert L. “Rob” (Julie) Roever, Jr., Marysville; three grandsons, Shane Roever, Manhattan, KS, Ian Roever and Dalton Roever, both of Marysville; two sisters, Mary Wingrave, McPherson, KS, and Janet Smart, Marysville; brother, Paul Roever, Colorado Springs, CO. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, infant Dana, and Brian in 2011; sister, Betty Pretre; and infant brother, Glenn Roever. Memorial contributions will be designated later and can be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
