Victor E. Heuer, 88, of Hanover, KS, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Hanover Hospital. Visitation was Monday, December 3, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., at the Hanover Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover. Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Arlyce Klipp played the organ while the congregation sang “Beautiful Savior”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness." The choir sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” The pallbearers were Dustin Heuer, Matthew Heuer, Austin Steinfort, Allen Steinfort, Tim Klipp and Bob Bohlken. Burial was in the church cemetery. Victor was born May 23, 1924, on the family farm near Hanover, KS, the son of Ernest and Vera (Luedders) Heuer. On June 1, 1924, he was baptized into the Christian faith at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. William Mahler. His sponsors were August Brei and Erna Luedders. On April 10, 1938, he confessed his Christian faith by Confirmation. His Confirmation Pastor was Rev. Mahler. He graduated from the 8th Grade at Trinity Lutheran School. On August 31, 1947, he married Ruth Kruse. The service was conducted by Rev. Theo. Kauffeld. Victor served his Lord as a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran where he served as a Church Elder, School Elder, Treasurer, Collector, and was a member of the Parent-Teacher League for Trinity Lutheran School, Youth and Adult Choir, Church Building Committee and Cemetery Committee. He was also a member of The Horseshoe Farmer’s Band for 72 years and a 65 year member of the Clemet T. Farrell American Legion Post 306 of Hanover. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army. On his tour of duty he was a guard at the Imperial Palace in Japan. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and softball. He enjoyed playing softball as a member of the Legion Softball Team. He enjoyed coaching both baseball and softball. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; brothers, Walter Heuer and wife, Elnora, and Norbert Heuer and wife, Olga; his sisters-in-law, Marie Meyer and husband, Albert, Erna Licht and husband, Arnold, and Martha Meyer and husband, Raymond. Survivors include his children, Ken (Janice) Heuer, Hanover, Jim (Ermel) Heuer, Lanham, KS, and David (Cindy) Heuer, Hanover; eight grandchildren, Angie (Allen) Steinfort, Bremen; Jennifer (Tim) Klipp, Hanover, Rachel (Bob) Bohlken, Wymore, NE, Dustin (Becky) Heuer, Crete, NE, Matt Heuer, Hanover, Daria, Nick and Adria Heuer, all of Hanover; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas and Jonathan Bohlken, Trevor, Taylor, Jacob, and Katelyn Klipp, Austin and Wade Steinfort, and Easton Heuer; sister-in-law, Lorena Leseberg; brother-in-law, Edwin Leseberg; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial fund has been established to Trinity Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
