Elizabeth C. Studer, 85, of Beattie, KS, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Country Place Senior Living, Marysville, KS. Visitation was Monday, December 3, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Beattie. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while Kelsey Goodwin sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Gift of Finest Wheat”, “Bread, Blessed and Broken”, “How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place”, and “Prayer of St. Francis.” The pallbearers were Eric Studer, Matt Geis, Jordan Geis, Will Studer, Steve Studer, Barry Studer, Tyler Taphorn and Vince Studer. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Beattie. Elizabeth was born on January 30, 1927 near Marysville. In 1945, she graduated from Frankfort High School. She attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS. On May 30, 1949, she married Francis Studer at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Beattie. Elizabeth was co-owner of Studer Truck Line. She was a church organist for many years and also played for weddings and funerals. She enjoyed bridge club, quilting, china and picture painting. She was a member of PEO and Daughters of Isabelle. She loved flowers, nature, and was known as an environmentalist who advocated recycling. Survivors include her sons, Philip (Jan) Studer, Joseph (Ann) Studer, all of Beattie, Paul (Judy) Studer, Frankfort, Bradley (Tracy) Studer, Marysville; daughter, Gina (Dick) Geis, Topeka, KS; two sisters, Hildegard Knight and Cecila Oppedale, both of Beattie; brother, Henry Dwerlkotte, Sacramento, CA; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, who died July 20, 1965; infant son, William; son, Robert, who died March 31, 2012; and brothers, Paul and Francis Dwerlkotte.
