Vivian J. Stohs, 81, of Marysville, KS, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, December 10, 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 11, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville. The Rev. Donnie Hofman officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. The congregation sang “Just As I Am” and “In the Cross of Christ I Glory.” The pallbearers were Jonathan Stohs, Nathan Stohs, John C. Schell, Donald Stohs, Lee Moser and Angie Jones. The honorary pallbearers were Allan Jackson, Greg Stohs, Kenny Jones, Randy Bailey, Richard Bailey, Steven Bailey, Shane Roever and Dale Henderson. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Vivian was born March 30, 1931 at Frankfort, KS, daughter of Charles and Flossie (Summers) Moser. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1948. On December 26, 1949, she married Leonhard Stohs at Afton Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked at the Triangle Drug Store in Marysville from 1979 until 1989. She then worked at Hardee's until retiring on October 22, 2010. Vivian enjoyed canning food, cooking, baking, sewing, her flowers and polka music. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonhard, Sr., on April 9, 2001; sister, Betty Rowland; brother, Richard Moser; and grandson, Lucas Stohs. Survivors include her sons, Leonhard (Pam) Stohs, Jr., Marysville, and Larry Stohs and friend, Audrey, Herkimer; special friend, Jimmy Roeser, Fairbury, NE; four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
