Juanita A. Hogan, 70, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. Visitation was Sunday, January 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 7, at St. Gregory's. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Sterling Clark played the organ while Paula Landoll-Smith sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Ave Maria”, “O Lord, I Am Not Worthy” and “How Great Thou Art”. The honorary pallbearers were Devin List, Luke Lister, Scott Berry, Justin Berry, Nicole Stoudt, Delaina List, Derek Whitesell and Sarah Whitesell. Burial was in the church cemetery. Juanita was born February 27, 1942, at Frankfort, KS, daughter of Fredrick Henry and Agnes Elizabeth (Popplemann) Ballman. On December 29, 1958, she married Marion Michael Hogan. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters. Juanita worked at CMH as a Nurses Aide for six years until 1975 when she began working at the City Sewing Company. She also did Home Health Care for private individuals for four years. In 1985, she started working as a lunch cook for the Marysville schools. She was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary. Juanita loved to cook, host family gatherings, and look through cookbooks for new recipes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, John. Survivors include her husband, Marion "Mike" Hogan; two sons, Douglas (Cathy) Hogan, Minneapolis, KS, and Randy Hogan, Blue Rapids; two daughters, Diane (Rick) Lister, Blue Rapids, and Colleen (Roger) Seematter, Marysville; siblings, Gerald (Marilyn) Ballman, Robert (Judy) Ballman, Mary Ann Ballman, and Rosalie (Bob) Babb, all of Marysville; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
