Richard "Bud" D. Williams, 87, of Frankfort, KS, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Wamego Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 25, at the Frankfort Community Nursing Home with Military Honors provided by the Frankfort American Legion. Richard was born April 10, 1925, in Riley County, KS, son of Richard H. and Ruby (Buseman) Williams. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1943. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Seabees and went to the South Pacific on the U.S.S. Missouri. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He enjoyed playing basketball and playing the trumpet in the Navy Seabees Band. Richard worked at the VA Hospital in Topeka and delivered pop for Strathman Sales in Topeka. In 1951, he met Mary Humphreys while she was working as a nurse at the VA Hospital. They were married and then moved to Michigan. While in Michigan he worked at E.W. Bliss Company in Hastings, MI, from 1951 to 1982. After retiring he returned to Frankfort. He enjoyed fishing for catfish and driving the countryside. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack Williams. Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Jane Pool, Jo Anne Reid, Richard “Rick” Williams II, and Thomas Williams, all of Michigan; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
