Carol Joyce Swoboda Wilson, 73, of Hanover, KS, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Hanover Hospital. Visitation was Sunday, January 27, 1 to 5 p.m., at the Hanover Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 27 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 28, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Father David Metz officiated. Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “On Eagles Wings”, “I Will Rise”, “Goin’ Home”, “Amazing Grace” and “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” The pallbearers were Jared Meyer, Duston Meyer, Justin Meyer, Mitchell Meyer, Matthew Beckmann and Johnathan Beckmann. The honorary pallbearers were A.J. Goeckel, Eric Wilson, Alex Goeckel, Joseph Sullivan, Jacob Aumock, John Michael Sullivan and Andrew Goeckel. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Carol was born on March 3, 1939, at Hanover, to Wesley and Elsie (Allerheiligen) Swoboda. She attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated Hanover High School in 1957. In 1957, she was united in marriage to Loren Doebele. They were blessed with six children. She and Loren later divorced. In 1982, she married Vic Wilson. Carol worked 32 years for Mueller Sand & Gravel/Midwest Materials. She did part time work as a seamstress, caterer, waitress and a bartender. She sewed wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, did crocheting and knitting and enjoyed working cross-word puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Doebele; and brother-in-law, Elmer Deters. Survivors include her husband, Vic Wilson, Hanover; daughters, Donna (Darwyn) Beckmann, Bremen, KS, Sheila (Dave) Meyer, Beatrice, NE, Karen (James) Meyer, Hanover, Lisa Zerger, Salisbury, NC, Jodi (Scott) Sullivan, Wamego, KS, step-children, Tracey Hamilton, Bartlesville, OK, Teryl (Doug) Goeckel, Washington, KS, Reed (Chris) Wilson, Clyde, KS; sisters, Marilyn Deters, Centralia, KS, Alice Ratcliff, Denver, CO, and Janice (Bob) Thompson, Washington, KS; twenty-five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. The Hanover Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
