Marcia E. Slupianek, 91, of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Friday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Marysville. Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Deb Bruna played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang "One Day at a Time" and "Lord's Prayer". A private burial was at Home, KS. Marcia was born on May 26, 1921 at Home, KS, the daughter of Ralph and Freda (Blocker) Tangeman. In 1939, she graduated from Marysville High School. On August 23, 1942, she married Norbert Slupianek at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. They were married for 69 years. On April 20, 2012, Norbert preceded her in death. Marcia was employed at Union Pacific Railroad and was bookkeeper of the Marysville Communications Services. She taught swimming lessons at Marysville City Pool for several years. She was involved in her church and community. She delivered Meals on Wheels past her 91st birthday. She donated 30 gallons of blood for Red Cross. She enjoyed playing bridge, snow skiing, bowling, roller skating, golf, swimming, yard work, and traveling. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jack Tangeman. Survivors include her children, Larry (Debbie) Slupianek, Cary, NC, Lee (Debbie) Slupianek, Shingle Springs, CA, Warren (Buff) Slupianek, Marysville, and Norris (Midge) Slupianek, Wichita; sisters, Laura Baker and Margaret (Ernie) Lange, all of Marysville, and Pat (Larry) Lemon, Topeka; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Tangeman) McMindes, Hays, KS; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the United Evangelical Church of Christ or Marysville Alumuni Association Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
