Dale F. Obermeyer, 85, of Marysville, KS, died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Cambridge Place, Marysville. Visitation was Monday, February 11, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 12, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Marysville. Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Deb Bruna played the organ while Wayne Kruse sings “On Eagles Wings” and “Lord’s Prayer”. The congregation sang “Amazing Grace”. The honorary pallbearers were Dion Obermeyer, Darren Nemechek, Nate Obermeyer, Jason Obermeyer, Josh Morrison, Dane Obermeyer, Jeff Morrison, David Morrison, Ross Tyler and Ruben Sende. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Dale was born on March 23, 1927, near Marysville, the son of C. Russell and Kathryn (Rickert) Obermeyer. He attended Bommer Country School and graduated from Marysville High School in 1945. He farmed in northern Marshall County for twenty years until he had a farm sale in 1969 and moved to Summerfield. He then worked for Merle Willet Construction, building sewer systems for area towns. In 1971, Dale went to a truck driving school in Sun Prairie, WI. He drove for Hunt Transportation, Omaha, NE, System Transport, Spokane, WA, and Andrew Van Lines, Norfolk, NE. He also was an owner operator and hauled grain in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Dale enjoyed seeing most of the states while driving. On September 11, 1949, he married Fern Luehring at the Evangelical Church in Hanover. They were blessed with three children, Mary Lou, Dean and Mark. In 1989, they moved to Marysville. Dale enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and attending family gatherings. He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ and was electric leader of the Balderson Boosters. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Fern; children, Mary Lou (Richard) Morrison, Liberty, NE, Dean Dale (Denise) Obermeyer, Los Alamos, NM, and Mark Russel (Carol) Obermeyer, Waterville, KS; brother, Kent Gordon (LoAllen) Obermeyer, Oketo, KS; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
