Kevin J. Peeks, 52, of Marysville, KS, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, CO. Visitation was Wednesday, February 27, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 28, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Deb Bruna play the organ while Wayne Kruse sang "Softly & Tenderly" and "O Loving God." The pallbearers were Michael Spaulding, Mitch Peeks, John Peeks, Michael Zimmerling, Trevor Moser and Alex Breeding. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Kevin was born January 3, 1961 at Marysville, KS, son of Robert J. and JoAnn R. (Klover) Peeks. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1979 and Beloit Vo-tech in 1980. Kevin worked for Union Pacific Railroad until August 1980, when he was injured while working. Before his injury Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, playing sports and working on the family farm. Following his injury he enjoyed traveling and attending his nieces and nephews sporting events. He was a Kansas State sports fan and attended many basketball games. Kevin loved adventure and shared many memorable experiences with his family, caregivers and his beloved dog, Bullet. Kevin was a member of FFA in high school and was a Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his siblings, Kim Spaulding, Centennial, CO, Keith (Teresa) Peeks, Kendall (Sharon) Peeks, and Kelly (Trent) Moser, all of Marysville; and nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, 1006 Broadway, Marysville, KS 66508.
